Desi Pizza Dough Recipe

Pizza is one of those universally adored foods, popular everywhere. This is the recipe we use in my house when we are feeling like pizza. In Pakistan, ordering out is about 10 times as expensive as making stuff yourself, so this recipe is a lifesaver.


  • 1 kg white bread flour 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 14 g dried yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 750 ml water

Recipe for Whole wheat bread

  1. Warm up 750 ml water to 35 degrees Celsius. Into it, add the yeast, oil and sugar. 
  2. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 5 minutes, or until it bubbles up and starts foaming. 
  3. In a large bowl, sieve together the salt and the flour. Make a well in the center. 
  4. Add the yeast mix in the center of the well and let sit for 2 minutes.
  5. Mix together to form a soft dough.
  6. Knead until the dough stops being sticky (at least 10 minutes).
  7. Cover with a warm and damp washcloth and let rise for two hours. 
  8. After the required time, the dough should have doubled in size, if not give it another hour.
  9. Knead the dough again for 2 mins and form into dough balls. It should yield 6 large pizzas. 
  10. Grease the pizza plate with oil and put in your dough. 
  11. Top with meat, cheese and vegetables of your choice. 
  12. Bake in an oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes. 
  13. Serve piping hot.
