Spinach with Meat is a very delicious, mouthwatering and common dish in Pakistani households. It is eaten in all the houses. Some people also cook spinach with chicken but the recipe for that is different from the one we are sharing here,
Ingredients in Spinach with Meat
- ½ kg mutton
- 1 kg spinach (finely chopprd)
- 2 chopped onion
- 1-1/2 cup oil or ghee
- 2 tomatoes chopped
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp Ground mix spice powder
- 1 tsp salt
Method of Spinach with Meat
- Put meat, onions, garlic, ginger paste, salt, red chilies, and turmeric in the pressure cooker. Put half a liter of water and put it on fire. Close the lid and put the pressure on to the lid.
- When whistle starts blowing cook for 15 minutes.
- Open the pressure cooker and stir with a cooking spoon. Put oil or ghee and chopped tomatoes in the cooker and keep stirring until the meat changes its color and become light brown (gosht bhoon lein). At this stage add ground mix spice powder.
- Add spinach and stir for two minutes;
- Add 1 cup or ¼ liter of water and close the lid of pressure cooker;
- Put the weight on the cooker. When whistle starts blowing cook for 6-8 minutes;
- Close the flame and take off the weight; when the cooker is empty of steam open the lid.
- Now if the water remains in the cooker put it on high flame and let the water dry;
- After drying the water sauté for 3-4 minutes;
Very tasty Spinach with Meat is ready to serve. It could be eaten with roti or boiled rice.
It will be enough for 6-8 people. Cook and enjoy!
