James Bond is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica after leaving active service. However, his peace is short-lived as his old CIA friend, Felix Leiter, shows up and asks for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond on the trail of a mysterious villain who’s armed with a dangerous new technology.

The Review
My Overall Thoughts
The film was the kind of typical sorta mindless Boom! Bam! Pow! action spy thriller that the name Bond promises. Bond himself was the dashing, courageous and untouchable rouge that we have come to know and love. I confess that Daniel Craig is not (by any stretch of the imagination) my favourite Bond (that singular honour goes to Pierce Brosnan); however I quite enjoyed his performance in this film and the action montages were quite simply: awesome. I enjoyed watching this film and it was worth seeing in a cinema, I doubt I would have enjoyed it quite as much at home.
The Best Parts of the Movie
The film contains breathtaking action scenes; a brooding Bond, a little extraneous plot and some nice camera angles. The best things in the movie are in the visuals, effect and action, not in the story or characters.
Action Sequences
The stuntmen and special effects used in the film combine to create several heart-poundingly fun action scenes that leave the viewer on the edge of their seats. One scene at the beginning where Bond is cruising on a bike has stayed particularly vivid in my imagination.
Visuals
The other thing to enjoy in this film are the scenic views and the cinematography. I like watching Bond change locations for each of his epic fight scenes, and action sequences.
Things That Were Meh
Characters. Plot. Villain. Romance. Everything else.
My Final Thoughts
This movie is fun to watch in a cinema due to the numerous explosions, however, overall meh.
My rating for this film is 5/10.
