Malaria

According to an African health magazine  “Malaria is a disease caused by a parasite. The parasite is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes. People who have malaria usually feel very sick, with a high fever and shaking chills. Each year, approximately 210 million people are infected with malaria, and about 440,000 people die from the disease. Most of the people who die from the disease are young children in Africa.”

This disease commonly occurs in the rainy season when the mosquito population is

on the rise. It is caused by the mosquito  bites. Mosquitoes generally nourish in the wet areas and as the wet areas increase due to rains so the mosquitoes also grow rapidly.

It is a kind of fever in which the patient feels extreme cold and sometimes shiver violently. The patient feels really cold although it is hot weather. Sometimes this fever does not attack daily rather it comes on alternate days. When someone is suffering from Malaria it is important that he/she should sleep under a mosquito net to avoid more mosquito bites.

In the rainy season keep the homes extra  clean and keep the water storage covered so that the mosquitoes do not grow in the water reservoir. Keep all the food covered with either a net or keep it in the refrigerator.

If there is a pond near the house then put some Kerosine oil in it. This will kill the mosquitoes and their eggs and they will not be able to grow.

Everyone should try to use the mosquito nets but if this is not possible then try  to cover oneself with a soft and light cloth so that the skin is safe.

The herbal treatment of Maleria will be shared in the next post.
