I know I haven’t done anything much book related for a while now, however, I have been so busy lately with work and completing my Masters, that I really don’t read as many books as I used to. (Which is not to say that I have stopped reading, I just spend less time on it.) Anyway, I was browsing randomly through WordPress, and I found this fun looking tag on Thrice Read, I wanted to answer it, so here we are!
1. How many books is too many books in a series?
Hmm, for me I think the threshold is seven. Any number less than that seems like a reasonable amount of books in a series, however, series with more than seven books give me pause because oftentimes a person gets bored in the middle, but then again The Wheel of Time Series has a LOT of books and I generally like most of them so…
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?
Hmm, they are fun when they serve a purpose. I am not really the type to obsess over a single book, I swiftly move on to the next one, even if it ends on a cliffhanger, I typically don’t care.
3. Hardback or paperback?
I love hardcovers on my shelves and paperbacks in my hands i.e. I prefer reading from paperbacks because they are lighter and more convenient, but like collecting hardcovers.
4. Favourite book?
Gone With the Wind, for a single book, and Harry Potter for a Series.
5. Least favourite?
I don’t have a singular least favorite book, but I generally dislike books by Paolo Coelho.
6. Love triangles, yes or no?
Eh… sometimes I guess? It depends on the type of book and the circumstances of the characters. I typically really dislike infidelity, so if the love triangle involves that then I’m typically not into it.
7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
1981 by George Orwell; its not that I disliked it or found it hard to read, I just, got distracted and really never came back to it.
8. A book you’re currently reading?
Empire of Ivy by Naomi Novik, it’s interesting enough to keep me going.
9. Last book you recommended to someone?
Not really sure, but I teach English so it might have been The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis, to my students.
10. Oldest book you’ve read?
I have read Homer’s Iliad so maybe it’s that one?
11. Newest book you’ve read?
I don’t really follow new releases and stuff, just whatever catches my interest.
12. Favourite author?
It’s a toss-up between J.K. Rowling and Tamora Pierce.
13. Buying or borrowing books?
Buying. I like have the book in case I want to reread it.
14. A book you dislike but everyone else seemed to love?
Paolo Coelho’s “The Alchemist”. I just don’t get the hype.
15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?
I used to dog ear my books as a teen, now however, I just usually tend to remember the page numbers. I honestly can never find any bookmarks when I actually need them; despite the fact that my house is littered with the things.
16. A book you can always re-read?
Once more,it’s Harry Potter.
17. Can you read while hearing music?
Yup, I do everything with music on, study, read, housework, grading. You name it, I have a playlist for it.
18. One POV or multiple?
Depends on the book. I prefer multiple points of view, but in some cases it’s best to have only one.
19. One sitting or over multiple days?
It’s almost always one sitting for me. I tend to read fast and be stuck like glue to the book while I read it so I finish them pretty fast.
20. Who do you tag?
Everyone who wants to do the tag.
