Chicken Malai boti

This dish is recognized with its creamy texture. “Malai’ is called cream in English and a piece of meat is called ‘boti’. Here we are using chicken meat so it is called chicken malai boti.

Chicken is eaten all over the world but different people cook it in different manner. This recipe is especially common in Pakistan.

Ingredients

1 tsp      salt

15           almonds  (soak them in hot water, peel and grind)

2              green chili (grind well)

1 tsp      garlic paste

1 tsp      ginger

1 tsp      white pepper

1 tsp      red chili powder

1 tsp      ground cumin

1 tsp      ground coriander

½ tsp     garam masala powder

500 g      chicken (boneless)

1 tbsp    lemon juice

2 tbsp    yogurt

2 tbsp    cream

4 tbsp    vegetable oil

500 g chicken

1 tbsp lemon juice

Method

  1. Cut chicken into cubes or strips. Add the chicken, salt, and lemon to a bowl, mix well, and set aside for approx. 10 min
  2. Add peeled almonds, yogurt, cream, green chili, garlic, ginger, white pepper, chili powder, ground cumin, coriander, and garam masala to a blender and make a smooth paste. Add paste to the bowl with chicken and let marinate in the fridge for approx. 3 hrs.
  3. Add vegetable oil to a frying pan over medium heat, and fry the chicken until it is dry and light brown.  Tasty malai boti is ready to serve.
  4. It can be served with salad, nan, roti, or pratha.
