The Synopsis of “Ishq Na Karyo Koi”

So basically The Express Tribune describes it as:

The story revolves around Fariha, Faisal and Maryam. Fariha, essayed by Rabab is an innocent, shy and outdated girl, madly in love with her classmate Faisal, played by Noor. She writes tons of letters to him anonymously which annoys Faisal.

On the other hand, Faisal seems to be in love with another classmate, Maryam portrayed by Hajra. They plan to get married as soon as they graduate, but Fariha wishes to confess her love for Faisal on the last day of college.

Once she confronts Faisal, he humiliates her on her looks and fashion choices which leaves her brokenhearted. Fariha then decides to leave the country and curses Faisal for a life time of hardships and struggle. As Faisal and Maryam’s wedding approaches, a tragedy occurs that causes the two to choose different paths.

The Good Points of “Ishq Na Karyo Koi”

The Drama “Ishq Na Karyo Koi” is very interesting and I was riveted throughout the plot. It is very slice of life, i.e. it has no extraordinary or supernatural plotlines, however it manages to remain interesting and dramatic throughout.

The acting is quite good from some of the actors and kind of hilariously bad in others, so enjoyable either way. The cast is good looking and the main actors have a good chemistry.

I enjoyed looking at and analyzing the outfits of some of the characters a lot, they kept me riveted.

The Bad Parts

“Ishq Na Karyo Koi” portrays a very damaging and negative view of love and marriage. I disliked the drama specifically because the main male protagonist is portrayed as a horrible person, but everyone in the drama acts as if he is such a good man, and that he did the right thing.

He is irresponsible, ungrateful, selfish and deliberately cruel, even to those that he proclaims to love. I disliked his character a lot. Also the female character is way too stalker like, she goes behind his back to contact his mother and the two collude together to force him into a relationship with her.

“Ishq Na Karyo Koi” portrays marriage very weirdly and callously, giving the bond of matrimony limited importance and focusing on Romantic love as the ultimate gauge for good relationships. While I agree that it plays a role, they essentially oversimplify and create false expectations of marriage.

Finally, I simply cannot get on board with how the main female protagonist was treated by the main male protagonist at the end of “Ishq Na Karyo Koi” . The drama acts as if he made a very clever move, all the while he insulted, betrayed and abandoned her.

Overall Thoughts

I really disliked this show by the end, so much so that I can say that I hate it. I don’t recommend it AT ALL.

I rate this show 3/10.
