The Review

My Overall Thoughts

“I’m Not a Robot” is a rom-com in longer format. With some weird elements added to the plot to create tension. Especially the robot premise is so interesting and and thought provoking. (Also if you really think about it kinda creepy.) The psychological issues shown are both understandable and completely nonsensical. Overall it was a totally weird show that I was surprisingly quite into.

The Best Parts of the “I’m Not a Robot”

Okay so this a fluffy, cute, lovey-dovey super swwet romance. It is completely different from many romances i have seen due to its insane plot but at the same time embodies the well known hallmarks of a great romance.

“I’m Not a Robot” has a plot that requires heaping handfuls of suspension of disbelief to be taken seriously. However the acting more than makes up for it. The actors are so believable and compelling in their performances that the viewer is hooked into the story completely.

Especially the main characters, they have great acting, great interactions and overpowering chemistry, to the point where the viewer cannot help but want them together. I was rooting for their romance throughout, they definitely embody the OTP of the drama “I’m Not a Robot”. Oh and also these actors manage to make really unbelievable concepts like a girl as a robot, seem believable.

The side characters all also act really well, adding to the show rather than subtracting from it. Each character has their own minor story arc and they manage to pull it off really well. They do not get fully fleshed out but you can apprentice them as is.

The messages in “I’m Not a Robot” were some of the best, the writes managed to show the contrast between emotional intelligence and traditional intelligence i.e. logical thought. They portrayed that each intelligence is important in their own ways and that is a really good message to carry from “I’m Not a Robot”. The deeper message – human emotions is something that cannot be mimicked using logic, it is something that can only be felt by humans. Also they showed us that unless you give second chances you could miss out on the best parts of life by being unforgiving.

Things That Were Meh

“I’m Not a Robot”’s plot is very whacky. It requires a huge amount of suspension of disbelief and can be quite jarring at times.

The premise and plot itself have some very weirdsci-fi elements that seem very illogical, for example how the lead is unable to tell the difference between a robot and a human. Also the medical science in this thing is way weird, I mean a man who is allergic to humans, really?

Another thing that is a downer is the way the ending is written,  it definitely feels rushed and choppy jarring the flow of the “I’m Not a Robot” and bringing the viewer out of the viewing experience feel unsatisfied.

My Final Thoughts

“I’m not a robot” is a fun, slightly crazy drama that really sells the romance, worth watching if you enjoy romances.
