Translation of Hakeem Saeed’s “Dehati Mualij”

This Remedy # 3: If Water Goes Into the Ear  is the third  entry in our translation of Hakeem Saeed’s “Dehati Mualij”. This post is the translation of the third common accident in the rural areas. In rural areas taking baths in the canal is common and most of the time especially in summer kids and elders also like to bath under the tube wells where the water is coming with pressure. Sometimes water goes into the ears and causes pain and disturbance.

In our last Dehati Mualij Post we talked about Remedy # 2: If an Insect Enters the Ear. For each Remedy we translate we will scan the relevant original page and insert the photograph here for your perusal. The First Chapter of the Book focuses on Accidents that occur in or around the household.

Remedy # 3: If Water Goes Into the Ear

What to do?

Take a cotton swab and clean the ear with the swab. If the cotton is not available one can use a tissue paper. Take the tissue paper and roll it in a thin round shape and clean the inside of  the ear with it. Itt will absorb all the water and the pain will stop. If nothing of the sort is available the take a straw and put it inside the air and suck it with mouth, the water will come out. One can also use an empty syringe for the purpose. Put the slim side of the syringe in the ear but remember there should be no needle attached to it. Then you can suck the water with the help of the syringe.
