Top 12 Book Quotes I Adore

When I read a book, sometimes there are just some words that stick out to me and make me stop and just contemplate them. They are the words that linger within my mind long after I have discarded the book. Those are the kind of quotes I chose for this list. So these are my favourite Quotes from books in no particular order. I limited myself to one quote from one book and book series otherwise this list would consist solely of Harry Potter (since I am a big Harry Potter fan.)

#1 The Picture Of Dorian Gray

“Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”

– Oscar Wilde, The Picture Of Dorian Gray

There is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.

– J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers

#3 Anne of Green Gables

When you are imagining, you might as well imagine something worth while.

– Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

#6 The Princess Bride

— William Goldman, The Princess Bride

#7 Wuthering Heights

#10 Gone with the Wind

― Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind.

#11 A Little Princess

“Whatever comes,” she said, “cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it.”

― Frances Hodgson Burnett, A Little Princess

#12 A Game of Thrones

“The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man’s life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.”

― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
